Iteration 1 - Our first MVP prototype

After months of deliberations we decided to push forward and get a minimal viable prototype (MVP) of our voucher system idea out into the wild 'net.
This is what the rough version looks like:

As you will notice, we haven't finished this off yet - there are probably a number of typos, we've used placeholder images and not all of the links are working yet.
There are currently two important pages, the landing page and the product page. The landing page has been designed to give visitors a single page overview of our products and to access more details. An important aspect of our product will be the future IOS app that merchants use to scan and redeem vouchers. Therefore we have to include a prominent and visual representation of the product at the top.
The product page is simple. I simply described the three concepts in a single paragraph and add an easily recognisable image.
I built the basic set of pages using Freeway Express because I wanted to work with a WYSIWYG HTML editor that allows me to get a basic look and feel in place. My partners will take these prototypes and convert that to proper HTML and we'll purchase good stock images.
We decided to measure two metrics during iteration #1:

  • Total visitors
  • Visitors interested in the product and willing to give us their email address
To capture the second set of data, we will have a simple "express interest" form associated with the three products on our site and record the data in a database. We hope to learn which one of the three ideas will be the most interesting and use that as the starting point for a functional prototype.
We will drive traffic by purchasing cheap Google Adworks ads that link to our site. Here too we will measure which keywords give us the best leads and has the highest conversation rate and map that to one of the three products.
I am not quite sure what the best way is to capture the vistors' interest. My gut feel says we should provide a different page for each on of the products and have a floater that allows the future customer to submit. It is important that we know which product they are interested in, without requiring extra effort.
